Pokhriyal was addressing students through a webinar on Twitter and Facebook and there were several queries on the CBSE and other exams.

Pokhriyal also said "Course committee of the board [CBSE} has already initiated the process of reducing the syllabus in various scenarios. CBSE will assess the losses due to COVID-19 and will reduce the syllabus in proportion"

He also announced new dates for the Joint Entrance Examination Main -- or JEE Main 2020 -- and the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, or NEET 2020. The first is for admission to engineering and the second for medicine.

The CBSE exams were postponed on March 18, 2020 and the board later announced that it will conduct exams only in the 29 subjects essential for admission to higher education.
