NEW DELHI: Delhi Education Minister Atishi on Friday inspected an under-construction school in Narela and said it was a testament to the city government's seriousness and dedication to providing "world-class education" to every child, regardless of their economic background. The condition of government schools in Delhi was deplorable before Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal took office, with children studying in dilapidated buildings, she said.

"This new, magnificent school in Kheda village (of Narela) is a testament to our seriousness and dedication towards providing world-class education to every child, regardless of their economic background," Atishi said. The four-storey school is a flagship project of the Delhi government and will boast 72 classrooms, smart classrooms, 11 advanced laboratories, a central library, and a multipurpose hall capable of accommodating 250 students, a statement said. It will also be equipped with a lift, ensuring accessibility for all students, along with modern amenities.

Schools in villages

Atishi also emphasised the Kejriwal government's commitment to prioritising education, highlighting the transformation of public schools since 2015. "Today, thanks to Arvind Kejriwal's vision, we are building schools in villages that are comparable to best in the world. This temple of education in Kheda village will become a centre of excellence for thousands of children in the vicinity," she claimed.

Atishi also touched upon the current political climate, stating that while Kejriwal might be in jail in a "false case," his dream of transforming India through education remained unstoppable. "We are committed to fulfilling his vision by providing top-notch education to every child, particularly those from the poorest families," she asserted.
