Baghpat schools to receive 75 refurbished computers through Vidyanjali CSR initiative

The education ministry organised a flag-off ceremony to dispatch 75 refurbished computers to 15 government schools in Baghpat district under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) module of Vidyanjali. The programme targets digital infrastructure development in schools.

Vidyanjali, an initiative of the Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education, launched to strengthen government and government-aided schools through community participation.

It allows individual volunteers, alumni, professionals, and organisations, including CSR entities, to contribute in the form of assets, equipment, or services for school development.

The ministry states that the CSR module of Vidyanjali enables districts to submit project proposals in key areas such as digital infrastructure, sports, health, and environment, which are reviewed and approved by the state for CSR engagement. National Informatics Centre Services Inc. (NICSI), registered on the portal and adopted a project titled “Digital Infrastructure Development in Schools” for the Baghpat district.

Objective of the digital infrastructure project

Under this initiative, 75 refurbished computers will be distributed across schools in Pilana, Khekra, Chhaproli, Binoly, Baraut, and Baghpat blocks. The project aims to improve digital access, promote e-learning, and support teachers and students in integrating technology into classroom teaching, aligning with the objectives of Digital India and the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

The flag-off ceremony was held in New Delhi under the leadership of the Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship and Minister of State for Education, Jayant Chaudhary, with over 250 participants from Baghpat district.

The Minister stated that the Vidyanjali portal has onboarded more than 8.33 lakh schools, 5.55 lakh individual volunteers, and over 2,300 CSR/NGO groups, benefiting around 1.8 crore students across India. “Vidyanjali program has opened the door for working and retired professionals from a wide spectrum to connect with the schools of their choice as a volunteer,” he further said.
