BHU-FMS Dean appointed Panjab University VC

NEW DELHI, JULY 23: Banaras Hindu University (BHU) faculty Prof. Raj Kumar has been appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of Panjab University, Chandigarh. Prof. Raj Kumar will be taking over his new responsibilities from July 23, 2018 for a period of three years. Presently, Prof. Kumar is the Dean and Head, Faculty of Management Studies, BHU.

Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu who is also the Chancellor of Panjab University has made the appointed of Prof. Raj Kumar on July 20. He succeeds Prof. Arun Grover as the 14th VC of Panjab University.

The Vice President on June 27, 2018 had constituted a Selection Committee comprising Dr. M. Ramchandran, IAS (Retd.), Chancellor, ICFAI University, Dehradun; Dr. Kapil Kapoor, Chairman, Indian Institute of Advanced Studies, Shimla and Dr. M. Jagdeesh Kumar, Vice Chancellor, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi to shortlist three names suitable for the post of Vice Chancellor from amongst the potential candidates.

After considering the applications received and interviewing nine applicants, the Selection Committee had come up with three names for the consideration to the Vice President of India and the Chancellor of the Panjab University on July 17, 2018.
