BHU launches ‘Namaste BHU’ app to boost digital connectivity, hassle-free campus experience

Namaste BHU app provides an option for students to register their grievances regarding admission, fee, exam, and other issues and seek redressal through the application.
NEW DELHI: Banaras Hindu University has launched a mobile application, ‘Namaste BHU’ for ‘over 40,000 strong community’ at the university. The BHU app was launched by the vice-chancellor Sudhir Kumar Jain with an objective “to boost the digital connectivity with the university as well as make services and information more accessible and user friendly”.
With an aim to provide smooth and hassle free campus experience to students and faculty members, the app will include the details of faculties, departments, programmes of study offered, directory of the university with names, designations, emails, and phone numbers of key officials, teachers, and staff.
Additionally, the app will also host books, journals, and millions of e-resources. Students have also been given the option to register their grievances regarding admission, fee, exam, and other issues and seek redressal through the mobile application.
Moreover, wardens can also raise hostel related complaints using the app. “Emergency contact numbers of the university as well as the local administration have been displayed on Namaste BHU,” it added.

BHU app to have more features soon
Students and faculty will be able to download the Namaste BHU app through the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
At the app launch event, Sanjay Kumar, coordinator of Institution of Eminence – BHU, said: “The newly launched mobile app by Banaras Hindu University, is designed to streamline access to essential university information, including academic details, library, holidays, and emergency contacts. This initiative, under the IoE, enhances digital connectivity and services for students and faculty alike. He informed that a dedicated team is constantly working on upgrading the app.”
TV Prabhakaran, consultant, who is leading the Namaste BHU app team, informed that the team is planning to add several more features “very soon”. “We are working on developing some other services, including counseling for students and making all important notifications visible to the users, Prabhakaran said.
Those who have registered their mobile number with the university will be able to create an account on the BHU app. “Banaras Hindu University is among the handful of higher educational institutions that have come up with such an initiative, hence, facilitating smooth internal communication as well as access to information and services,” it said.
