Bihar Govt to appoint 1 lakh school teachers in next five years: CM Samrat Choudhary

The Bihar government has announced plans to appoint 1 lakh school teachers in the next five years. Under the new plan, the government will recruit approximately 20 thousand teachers every year, chief minister Samrat Choudhary said on X.

The government will also roll out teacher recruitment announcements every year in July, Bihar CM said while announcing the new Bihar school teacher appointment plan.

“The Education Department has been directed to make a policy for the transfer of teachers to make it transparent and convenient, whereby female teachers should be transferred as far as possible to the panchayat adjacent to their home panchayat in their home block of the home district, and male teachers to the block adjacent to their home block in the home district,” CM Choudhary wrote on this X handle.

The teacher transfer strategy is aimed at making the appointment travel transparent, safe and hazzle-free, CM added.

The decision to implement the new plan to recruit school teachers every year for the next five years was taken after a high-level meeting was held at Bihar CM’s residence in Patna. Education minister Mithilesh Tiwari, along with other senior leaders of the education department took part in the meeting, Economic Times reported.

Recently, the Karnataka government also announced plans to appoint 51,000 guest teachers in government primary and high schools across the state for the academic year 2026-27.

The objective behind the appointment of temporary school teachers is to safeguard students’ academic interests.
