NEW DELHI: Angry over the delay in transfer, Bihar school teachers have started a social media campaign demanding expedition of the process. Several teachers took a jibe at the Bihar education department and the state chief minister Nitish Kumar over the pending transfers.

A WhatsApp message is going viral online which claims that a total of 10,225 teachers have been transferred. The list may be released anytime by Monday. “Currently, no transfers have taken place within the district. Teachers posted in other districts have been transferred to their chosen districts. Transfers have been made for teachers with specific conditions, including kidney, liver, heart patients, differently-abled, autism, widows, and deserted women, as well as for wives in husband/wife transfer cases,” the message read.

Currently, there is no clarification on allocation of schools. Once the list is released, further updates will be provided. The district allocation for transfers was done just a short while ago, it added.

Recently, the education department prepared the list of phase 2 transfers, according to which, 180 teachers selected through the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) were to be allotted schools, as per reports. In the first phase, 35 teachers were reportedly given transfers. Around 1.90 lakh teachers have applied for transfer, the reports added.

Bihar teacher transfer ‘pending’ for decades

Those aspiring for a transfer expressed stress, family issues over the delay in the allocation of schools.

An X user said in a post, “When will we finally get relief from mental stress? The family is falling apart due to posting so far away from home, when will the transfer process be completed?”

Another user wrote, “The process of transfer of teachers is pending for decades. The education department has been procrastinating for 5 years since 2020 on the pretext of software. It seems that the department has no intention of transferring.”

Tagging the Bihar CM, a candidate asked, “Teachers need to do all their work on time. There is no last date for teachers' work. What kind of policy is this?”

“Today is Bihar Day, congratulations to all but 1.90 lakh teachers of the state are not able to sing Bihar Gaurav Gaan freely, the reason is the delay in their transfer. The ailing parents of many teachers are alive in the hope that their son/daughter will come home soon and then they will serve me,” remarked another candidate.

Tagging additional chief secretary S Siddharth, a teacher asked, “What happened to your claim and promise sir? You yourself had said that it is my target to transfer all the teachers by the end of March. Then how did you forget your target? How much do I need to remind you?”

“The education department has lost its credibility. The transfer has been a mess. January has become February, March has come and still they are being made to go round and round. Teachers are being mentally harassed. Lies upon lies are being told,” commented another teacher.
