A day ahead of the scheduled release of the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) Teacher Recruitment Examination (TRE-4) notification, the commission has postponed the commencement of the online application process citing procedural changes.

The online application process for recruitment to 32,388 vacant school teacher posts under the Bihar Education Department was scheduled to begin on September 1. The commission said a fresh date for commencement of registration would be announced soon.

The BPSC, in a release, said the postponement was necessitated by procedural changes. It did not provide further details about the changes.

The commission had, on August 18, announced that interested and eligible candidates could apply online for BPSC TRE 4 from September 1. The registration window was scheduled to remain open until September 30.

BPSC TRE 4.0 notification soon

Under Advertisement No. 14/2026, the recruitment drive will fill 32,388 school teacher vacancies across primary, middle, secondary and higher secondary levels in Bihar. Of the total vacancies, 3,847 posts are for Classes 1-5, 8,563 for Classes 6-8, 3,877 for Classes 9-10, and 16,101 for Classes 11-12.

BPSC TRE-4 notification will include post-wise vacancies, eligibility criteria, educational and professional qualifications, age limit, reservation provisions, and examination pattern. The commission has not yet announced the dates for the preliminary and main examinations.

The postponement comes amid protests by teacher recruitment aspirants over the delay in the examination schedule. On August 18, students demonstrating in Patna's Gardani Bagh area had threatened to gherao the education minister if the exam schedule was not announced "within 24 hours."

Opposition leaders, including RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav and CPI(ML) Liberation general secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya, had also expressed support for the protesting students. TRE is conducted for the recruitment of permanent teachers for government schools at primary, middle, secondary, and senior secondary levels.
