British Council launches scholarship for women to pursue STEM careers
British Council has partnered with 19 UK universities to offer women from over 20 countries to study a master’s degree in the United Kingdom
NEW DELHI: The British Council has launched a scholarship programme for women from over 20 countries to pursue a master’s degree in STEM courses in the United Kingdom. STEM stands for science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
The British Council Scholarship for Women in STEM aims to assist over 100 women from India and 19 other countries to obtain their advanced degree from a UK university. Women from countries in South Asia, East Asia and the Americas will be able to apply.
Along with tuition fees, this scholarship scheme will also include a monthly stipend, travel costs, visa and health coverage fees.
“The scholarship is also open to women with dependants to apply and contains a provision for scholars that might need a short pre-sessional English course to achieve the language level needed to undergo their studies,” an official statement said.
Candidates applying from South Asian countries will have to apply directly to a university of preference out of the nine specified universities. These institutions include Teesside University, City University London, University of Strathclyde, Newcastle University, Edinburgh Napier University, University of Warwick, University of Edinburgh and Brunel University London.
Applications for the scholarship programme will be open until mid-March 2021.
