BVoc course to be treated at par with a diploma in engineering and BSc degree for the purpose of admission in BTech or BE program through lateral entry.

NEW DELHI: The Bachelor of Vocation courses will be treated at par with a diploma in engineering or a B.Sc degree for lateral admission to engineering courses, the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has clarified.
"It is therefore clarified that BVoc course is treated at par with Diploma in Engineering and B.Sc degree for the purpose of admission in B.Tech or BE program through lateral entry," the AICTE said in official order.

For admission in B.Tech and BE program through lateral entry to the second year, a candidate must have passed a minimum of three years diploma examination in any branch of engineering and technology, the council further said. A B.Sc degree from a recognized university and passed Class 12 examinations with mathematics as a subject is also in the eligibility criteria, the AICTE said.

Recently, the AICTE Lilavati Awards for celebrating women’s empowerment was won by eight colleges. The AICTE Lilavati awards are given for excelling at eight areas of work such as women and adolescent health, self-defence, environment, sanitation and hygiene, literacy and life skills, women entrepreneurship, legal awareness, technology for women, and women innovators (rural-urban).
