Cancel remaining CBSE exams, chop syllabus by 30%: Delhi Govt to MHRD

NEW DELHI:Delhi Government has requested the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) to pass students of Classes 10 and 12 solely on the basis of their internal marks, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said.

Sisodia’s comments followed his video conference with the HRD Minister, Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’. Pokhriyal met with the education ministers and education secretaries of all states through a video conference on Tuesday.

Sisodia, through his official social media handle, said that the Delhi government has put the following requests in front of the MHRD.

Sisodia said: “It will not be possible to conduct the remaining exams of CBSE 10th and 12th so that children should be passed on the basis of internal exams only as children of 9th and 11th have been passed.”

Apart from this, the Delhi government also requested the centre that “the entire syllabus should be reduced by at least 30%”.

The government also requested the centre to conduct Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) for Engineering and National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for medicine on the basis of this reduced syllabus.

The government has also asked for air time on Doordarshan and radio for conducting virtual classes. Sisodia said: “Delhi government has asked for three hours daily on Doordarshan and AIR FM so that teachers of Delhi government can run on air classes for all children.”
