NEW DELHI: Careers360 Faculty Research Awards 2023 is back! To acknowledge and celebrate the remarkable contributions of researchers in India Careers360 will be organising the second-edition of Faculty Research Award 2023 on October 6. Minister of State for skill development, entrepreneurship and communication and information technology Rajeev Chandrasekhar will present the awards to researchers across 27 disciplines.
Twenty-seven research scholars from public universities and 27 from private universities will be recognised. Besides, 27 researchers will also receive ‘honourable mentions’ at the event. Both “Outstanding Researcher” and “Commendable Researcher” awards carry cash prizes and citations.
These awards aim to highlight the exceptional work done by researchers. The “Outstanding Researchers” will be chosen based on their impact on their respective fields, their research output, citations and contribution to the advancement of knowledge.
Additionally, the “Commendable Researchers” will also be recognised for their achievements and potential in their respective fields. “Their dedication and commitment to their research are commendable, and they represent the promising future of academic research in India,” the official statement read.
By awarding these exceptional individuals, Careers360 aims to celebrate the significant service that researchers provide to the nation and its development.
Careers360 has adopted a comprehensive and objective approach toward selecting the awardees. The evaluation criteria are based on the authors’ Scopus indexed publication records across 27 broad disciplines. The cut-off is limited to a minimum of 10 documents.
As per the selection criteria, a composite score including academic output in Scopus-indexed journals over the years, citation count, and h-index will be considered. Each factor is assigned a weightage. The total weightage assigned for academic output is 33.5%, citation count and h-index carry 31.6%, 34.9% respectively. The selection process was formulated to ensure a comprehensive and fair evaluation.
Based on the final composite scores, the researcher with the highest score in each of the 27 fields will be conferred the “Careers360’s Outstanding Researcher Award”.
In March 2018, the first edition of Careers360 Faculty Research Awards was held and former minister for human resource development Prakash Javadekar conferred awards upon selected researchers across 24 disciplines. As many as 254 academic researchers across 24 disciplines were shortlisted for the inaugural edition.
This year, awards will be presented to researchers for their contribution in fields like agricultural and biological sciences; arts and humanities; biochemistry, genetics and molecular biology; business management; chemical engineering; chemistry; decision sciences; computer science; dentistry; earth and planetary sciences; economics, econometrics and finance; energy; engineering; environmental science; health professions; immunology and microbiology; material science; mathematics; medicine; multidisciplinary; neuroscience; nursing; pharmacology, toxicology and pharmaceuticals; physics and astronomy; psychology; social sciences; and veterinary.
