CAT 2018 Slot 2 Analysis - Moderate test similar to Slot 1

NEW DELHI, NOVEMBER 25: Slot 2 of CAT 2018 exam has concluded. IIM Calcutta, the exam conducting body has successfully conducted the exam in 374 test centres across 147 cities. The afternoon slot began at 2:30 pm and ended at 5:30 pm. According to the CAT 2018 slot 2 analysis, the exam was similar to that of the first slot. The overall difficulty level of the exam was moderate to tough.

Experts and candidates sharing the CAT 2018 analysis of slot 2 mention that the toughest section was Quantitative Ability (QA) and the easiest was Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC). Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DI & LR) section was on the easier lines. As compared to last year, the overall difficulty level was easier than that of last year. However, last year, the DI & LR section was tough and QA section was easy.

The total number of non-multiple choice questions (non-MCQs) or the Type in the Answer (TITA) type questions in CAT 2018 slot 2 was 27 out of 100.

First slot exam is over which began at 9:00 am and ended at 12 noon today. And according to the test taker, the overall difficulty level of the exam was moderate. Quantitative section was easy for some students but for some students this section was tough. Also, some students found the Verbal Ability section difficult. Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (DILR) section the difficulty level was also moderate. The CAT 2018 slot 2 analysis is also similar to that of the first slot.

According to the exam pattern of CAT 2018, CAT 2018 is a computer-based online test carrying 100 multiple choice questions. The test paper is divided into three sections such as Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (DILR), Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension (VARC), and Quantitative Ability (QA). The time allotted to complete the exam is 180 minutes that is 3 hours. The time allotted for each section is 60 minutes. The marking scheme of CAT 2018 includes negative marking. Each correct answer will be given 3 marks and -1 will be deducted for the wrong answer.

Around 2.4 lacs candidates have applied for the CAT this year. The CAT 2018 scores will be accepted by 20 IIMs and over 100 B-schools across India. The officials are expected to release the CAT question paper and answer key in the third week of December. The result is expected to be declared in the second week of January 2019.
