NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Calcutta, has released the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2024 notification today, July 28, 2024, in the newspaper. The CAT 2024 exam date has also been announced, along with the CAT notification 2024.
The IIM Calcutta will conduct the CAT 2024 exam on November 24, 2024, in 170 test cities. The authority will conduct the CAT exam in three shifts. Shift 1 is from 8:30 am to 10:30 p.m.; shift 2 is from 12:30 pm to 2:30 p.m.; and shift 3 is from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm.
The CAT 2024 registration process will begin on August 1, 2024, at iimcat.ac.in. The last date to submit the CAT form is September 13, 2024. Students with a bachelor's degree with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks and 45% marks for the reserved category are eligible to apply for the CAT 2024 entrance exam.
Changes introduced in CAT exam this year

As per the CAT 2024 notification, the fee has been increased from Rs 2400 to 2500 for general category candidates and Rs 1200 to 1250 for reserved category candidates.

The number of CAT test cities has increased from 167 to 170. Last year, candidates were allowed to choose six cities while filling out the CAT application form. This year, only five CAT cities are allowed to opt.

The CAT exam will consist of the following sections: data interpretation & logical reasoning, verbal and reading comprehension, and quantitative aptitude. The CAT 2024 question paper will have two types of questions: MCQ-based and TITA (type in the answer), for a total mark of 198.

There are 21 IIMs and over 1000 MBA colleges in a non-IIM category, including the top ones like FMS Delhi, SJMSoM IIT Mumbai, MDI Gurgaon, DoMS IIT Delhi, and SPJIMR Mumbai, among others, that accept CAT scores for MBA admission.
