NEW DELHI: A petition has been filed against the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2024 results over an error in the provisional answer key, as per a Bar and Bench report. The Delhi High Court heard the matter on December 24 and 31 seeking responses of the education ministry and CAT convenor. The next hearing of the case has been scheduled for January 3, 2025.
The petitioner has alleged that there is an error in a question in the comprehension section of the CAT exam 2024 held on November 24. The aspirant argued through their counsel that he challenged the question in the CAT 2024 answer key despite which the exam authorities released the final answer key, he pointed out. The CAT 2024 provisional answer key was released on December 3.
The candidate highlighted that he submitted the analysis of the CAT 2024 experts and faculty members of various coaching centres in support of his objection to the CAT answer key 2024. Additionally, a total of 272 grievances were raised by the candidates against the comprehension section of the CAT 2024 exam.
The MBA aspirant argued that the CAT result 2024 was expected in the second week of January 2025 but was declared hurriedly on December 19, without any response from the exam authorities on the challenges against the answer key.
The candidate has further demanded scrapping of the CAT 2024 results and appointment of a committee to find the correct answer.
Around 2.93 lakh took the CAT 2024 exam conducted in three shifts – slot 1 from 8:30 am to 10:30 am, slot 2 from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm, and slot 3 from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm. The CAT 2024 question paper comprised three sections including Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC), Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR), and Quantitative Ability (QA).
