After the Punjab government opposed CBSE’s decision of putting “Punjabi” subject as minor, the board changed the classification of subjects from major and minor to ‘Subjects offered by all schools’ and ‘subjects offered by fewer schools’.

“CBSE is offering 114 subjects for Class 12 students and 75 subjects for Class 10..If the examination of all subjects is conducted, the entire duration of exams would be about 40-45 days. Therefore, to avoid learning loss of students, CBSE would conduct exams of only ‘subjects offered by all schools’," the board said in an official statement.

Changes in CBSE board exams pattern:

  • The duration of the board exam will be 90 Minutes (1 hour 30 mins)

  • Schools will have to upload practical marks at the official portal by December 23.
