CBSE Class 12 English exam tomorrow; Sample paper, key points

NEW DELHI: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will hold the Class 12 board English core and English elective exams tomorrow, February 24. Students taking the CBSE board exams 2023 will be required to carry CBSE hall tickets and school id cards. Students appearing for the CBSE English core and English elective exams tomorrow can check the sample papers and marking schemes available at cbse.gov.in.

As per the CBSE English Core sample paper, the question paper will have three sections -- Reading, Writing and Literature. The English Core paper will be held for a total of 80 marks.

CBSE Class 12 English Core exam pattern

The Reading Section will focus on testing a candidate’s ability to comprehend. Marks will be awarded only if the response reveals structure or semblance of coherent thought rather than a transcribed chunk or exact lines from the passage in an attempt to pass off as a response. Total marks allotted for the Reading Section is 20.

The Writing Section will be held for 20 marks and Literature for 40 marks.

CBSE Class 12 English Elective: Exam Pattern

The CBSE Class 12 English Elective question paper will also have three sections. All the sections in CBSE term 2 English Elective paper will be compulsory. The English elective paper will be held for a total of 80 marks.
