The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the guidelines for conducting Class 12 practical supplementary examinations. CBSE 12th practical exams for all streams will be held from July 29 to August 4. Eligible students must contact their schools or examination centres by July 27. Over 2.5 lakh will be appearing in the CBSE Class 12 theory supplementary exam scheduled for July 28.

The guidelines apply to students placed in the compartment category under Repeat Practical (RP) and Repeat Theory and Practical Both (RB). Candidates in the RP category will appear only for the practical examination, with their previous theory marks being carried forward. Those in the RB category will have to take both the theory and practical examinations.

CBSE said regular students will appear for practical exams in their respective schools, while private candidates will take the exams at their allotted supplementary examination centres. If a centre lacks laboratory facilities for a particular subject, the concerned regional office will arrange an alternative venue at a nearby school or examination centre.

The board has instructed its regional offices to appoint external examiners for all Class 12 practical examinations. Schools and centre superintendents have been barred from appointing external examiners independently and will nominate only internal examiners from among their teachers.

Schools to upload marks on the same day

CBSE said practical marks must be uploaded on the board's portal on the same day of examination."The marks once uploaded shall be deemed final and no request for any change in the same will be accepted," the circular reads.

Students have been asked to carry a copy of their result or marksheet along with their admit card when reporting to their schools or examination centres. Schools have also been directed to inform candidates well in advance about the date and time of their practical examinations and coordinate with regional offices to ensure the timely conduct of the exams.
