NEW DELHI, APRIL 2: The Delhi High Court has asked the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and the Centre to clear their stand on a court- monitored probe on the CBSE paper leak issue and the status of the Class 10 Mathematics paper's re-examination.

The two-judge bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice C Hari Shankar sought the board's stance after hearing a petition filed by an NGO Social Jurist. The NGO in its petition asked for the class 10 Mathematics paper- for which the re-examination date has not yet been announced- to be held in April instead of July as conveyed by CBSE earlier. It also sought 'liberal marks' for students in the Class 10 Mathematics and Class 12 Economics paper, although the nature of the 'liberal marking system' was not described by the party.

Although there have been reports of multiple paper leaks, CBSE took cognisance of only two papers - Class 10 Mathematics and Class 12 Economics. The board on April 25 had announced the re-examination date for the Economics paper and also said that it would fix a date for the Mathematics paper after further probe. Further, the re-examination is expected to take place in July only for students from Delhi and Haryana.

Meanwhile, as per reports, the Crime Branch of Delhi Police has questioned over 60 people in connection to the paper leak case. Till date, the police have arrested two teachers, a tutor and an owner of a coaching centre in Delhi. Following the arrests, CBSE has also suspended one of its officers, K S Rana, for his alleged lack of supervision at a centre where the Economics paper was held.
