Chief minister laid foundation for 2,100-bed hospital and an academic building on the campus of the Darbhanga Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

NEW DELHI: Chief minister Nitish Kumar laid the foundation stone to redevelop the Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) into a 2,100-bed hospital and a college with an annual intake of 250 MBBS students at a cost of Rs 2,742 crore.
Kumar said in a post on X, “Laid the foundation stone of the plan to redevelop Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital, Darbhanga at a cost of Rs 2742.04 crore. We had said that DMCH will be made a 2,500 bedded hospital. Today we inaugurated a 400 bedded surgical block at a cost of Rs 194.08 crore and laid the foundation stone of the remaining 2,100 bedded hospital.”

Apart from this, the foundation stone for the construction work of Government Maharani Rameshwari Indian Institute of Medical Sciences, (Ayurvedic college) Mohanpur, Darbhanga was also laid today. The construction of this hospital will provide great convenience to the people in their treatment.
Kumar also inaugurated the newly constructed Deshratna Rajendra Prasad Multipurpose Building at Anugrah Narayan College, Patna yesterday. He directed to ensure better cleanliness and teaching in the college premises.

The Bihar government approved Rs 309 crore for soil filling and land levelling work, which would facilitate construction of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Darbhanga. It will have 750 beds along with various healthcare amenities. The new AIIMS is likely to be completed within a period of 48 months from the date of starting the construction.
