Children's Day 2023: PM Modi pays tributes to Jawaharlal Nehru on birth anniversary

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday paid tributes to Jawaharlal Nehru on his birth anniversary. Nehru, India's first prime minister, was born in Prayagraj in 1889 and was one of the leading faces of the country's freedom struggle. His admirers credit him for nurturing democratic roots in the country.

Modi said on X, "Tributes to our first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru Ji on his birth anniversary."

Himachal Pradesh chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu also wished, "Remembering Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Ji on his birth anniversary, a visionary leader whose legacy continues to shape the fabric of modern India. Happy Children's Day!"

"Our kids are the most valuable resource and hope for the future. We’re celebrating the innocence, laughter and boundless energy of our little ones! Happy Children's Day!," said Directorate of Education in a post on X.
