NEW DELHI: The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) will approach the Supreme Court for appropriate relief against the Delhi High Court order directing it to revise the CLAT merit list. It further informed candidates that the CLAT counselling 2025 will be delayed due to the court proceedings and the revised schedule will be notified after the SC appeal process.

The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT 2025) was conducted for undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) admissions on December 1 and the final answer key was published on December 7. Following this, aspirants raised objections against the CLAT PG final answer key citing several errors. They also highlighted ‘unreasonable’ objection fees of Rs 1,000 per question challenged.

Taking note of the claims in the writ petition, the Delhi High Court asked the Consortium of NLUs to revisit the CLAT merit list uploaded on December 7 at the official website, consortiumofnlus.ac.in. On December 20, the single-bench ruled the answers to two questions in the entrance test were wrong and asked the exam conducting authorities to revise the merit list accordingly.

However, a bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Vibhu Bakhru and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela on December 24 refused to interfere in the decision taken by the single bench and directed to declare the CLAT results 2025 as per the court’s order. The Madhya Pradesh High Court has also said any selections made by the CNLUs, based on the final answer key, would be subject to the final disposal of the writ petition.

After the division bench of Delhi HC refused to intervene the single bench order, “We are approaching the SC for appropriate relief against this order at the earliest available date due to vacation,” the Consortium of NLUs said.

Assuring its commitment to ensuring transparency and fairness in the process, the Consortium of NLUs said: “The release of the first admission list for NLUs, originally scheduled for December 26, will be delayed and there on the counselling process. The fresh calendar to be announced after our SC appeal process and expected relief.”
