'Collect only one month's tuition fee': Delhi Govt to private schools

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Government on Friday instructed private schools to only collect tuition fees during the lockdown. It has also asked schools to not raise fees without consulting the government.

The decision was shared by Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia through his official social media account.

Sisodia said that, according to the Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s order, “private schools in Delhi will not take a three-month fee, apart from a one-month tuition fee”. It also said that “no child will be removed from online class for not giving the fee”.

Parents of children studying in private schools had expressed concerns on private schools asking for entire annual fees during the lockdown.

Many parents, especially those who run small businesses, had seen their income sources dry up amid the extended nationwide lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic.

As per the order, parents will only be required to pay the tuition fees and not additional fees such as transportation fees or development fee that the school may ask for.

The schools were also instructed to refrain from raising fees without seeking permission from the government

Additionally, private schools were also ordered to ensure that the salary of teachers and other staff are paid on time.

Manish Sisodia said: “It is the responsibility of all private schools to pay salaries of all teaching, non-teaching, contract or outsourced staff on time. These orders will be applicable to all private schools (including government lands or private lands).”

Sisodia also said that strict action would be taken against schools that violate the order.

-फ़ीस न देने पर किसी बच्चे को ऑनलाइन क्लास से नहीं हटाएँगे.
