The incident allegedly took place at a government college in Kannod town following which the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), a student organisation affiliated to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, filed a complaint with the police.

A spokesperson of KIIT said that the institute's authorities had lodged a missing complaint with Infocity police station to look for Arnab Mukherjee. "We are waiting for the police to ascertain why he was in Mancheswar and how he died," the spokesperson added.

Around 170 students from 9 top institutions participated in the cultural fest to compete, collaborate, and celebrate innovation. “The festival was a whirlwind of energy, ideas, and electrifying performances,” the management institute said.
