NEW DELHI: In view of the coronavirus outbreak, Kendriya Vidyalayas in Delhi have decided to announce annual examination results through email and WhatsApp.
As the Indo-Asian News Service has reported, this measure has been taken to minimise physical contact between students. Due to the rising number of Coronavirus cases in the city, KVs in the Delhi region will send the results directly to the students or parents via email and WhatsApp, instead of the usual practice of displaying it on school boards or holding parent-teacher meetings.
A senior officer told IANS that Kendriya Vidyalayas in other cities and states too are considering following their counterparts in Delhi.
Other KVs
A senior Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) official told IANS : "Parents will be given results this year through email and WhatsApp. Any discussion or queries about their ward's performance can be pursued with teachers telephonically or after the schools reopen." So if the parents have any disputes about the marks scored by their wards, they may take it up on telephonic conversations and the school authorities will be available to address any such concerns.
Kendriya Vidyalayas in Delhi have been closed till March 31, 2020, but the exams are being conducted for various classes as per the date sheet announced earlier. The government has ordered all the schools in Delhi to remain shut till March 31. On March 16, 2020, Centre had also advised the closure of schools throughout India to contain the coronavirus outbreak.
So far, India has reported 147 confirmed cases of coronavirus, 130 of them are “active”. According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Delhi alone has had 13 confirmed cases so far including two who have been cured and one death.
