NEW DELHI: After the union health ministry issued guidelines for Covid vaccination of 15 to 18 year-olds, the Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has advised the principals of CISCE affiliated schools to encourage parents and guardians to get children in the age group of 15-18 years old vaccinated at the earliest.
Saying that the Covid vaccination for children is a positive step taken by the government, the CISCE’s latest notice read, “For the students of Classes 10 and 12, it will ensure safety and protection while leaving their homes to travel to schools, either to attend class or to do practical works or to appear for the semester 2 exam.”
The board is also expected to announce the ICSE, ISE term 2 exam dates soon. The CISCE conducted term 1 board exam 2021 in offline mode. However, ICSE had earlier given an option for students to take term 1 and 2 board exams 2022 in hybrid mode - both online and offline. Later, the board later announced to conduct the exam only in offline mode.
The Delhi government has on Tuesday instructed all school principals to upload the vaccination status of students under the 15-18 age group daily by 4 pm.
The Covid-19 vaccination drive for the 15 to 18-year-old age group started on January 3 with over 40 lakh children getting their first dose on day 1, union health minister Mansukh Mandaviya said.
The Covid vaccination registration can be done online on the government’s vaccination portal CoWin or can also walk-in at the centres. Children of this age group are eligible to get only Covaxin, the only one cleared for emergency use for children.
