COVID-19: IIT Kharagpur Alumni Foundation starts fundraiser for 20 ICU beds

The IIT Kharagpur Alumni Foundation has targeted to provide the new hospital at IIT Kharagpur with 20 ICU beds and 80 ward beds.
NEW DELHI: With an aim of improving the hospital infrastructure and helping Kharagpur to fight against the COVID wave, the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur has started a fundraiser to supply beds to the institute’s new hospital.
“In this hours of need, when people are searching for hospital beds, IIT Kharagpur Alumni Foundation India has come forward in raising funds to supply hospital beds to the new hospital at IIT Kharagpur,” the institute said in a tweet.

The Alumni Foundation has targeted to provide the new hospital at IIT Kharagpur with 20 ICU beds and 80 ward beds. They have also requested people to make a financial contribution to help improve the hospital infrastructure.

Like all other institutes, classes in IIT Kharagpur was also being held online as a precautionary measure to curb the spread of COVID-19. However, a week ago, the institute decided to call back students facing difficulties attending online classes. The authorities had asked the student's body to prepare a list of the number of such students facing issues relating to digital devices or internet connectivity.
India reported 42,015 new COVID 19 cases, 36,977 recoveries, and 3,998 deaths in the last 24 hours, as per the Union Health Ministry.
