COVID-19: Osmania University stops classes, postpones exams

NEW DELHI: Osmania University in Hyderabad on Wednesday, announced that all colleges and departments under the university shall remain closed following the Telangana Government’s order to close all educational institutions amid rising COVID-19 cases.

The university has also postponed all ongoing and scheduled examinations. The revised schedule for the examinations will be announced later.

Osmania University, in a circular, said: “As per the Government direction, all the ongoing and scheduled examinations are postponed. The revised schedule will be announced later.”

“ All the campus, constituent, affiliated and district PG colleges under the jurisdiction of Osmania University shall remain closed for class work until further orders,” the university said in a separate circular. Osmania University has more than 700 affiliated colleges.

The university said that online classes for undergraduate, postgraduate and professional courses will continue as scheduled.

On the same day, the University of Hyderabad (UoH) had asked postgraduate students and research scholars to not return to the university following the government order. It had also put off plans to start classes in blended (online and offline) mode. Even Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi has halted the return of students to campus.
