CSIR NET JRF & UGC NET: UGC revises selection process for NFSC

University Grant Commission has revised the selection process for National Fellowship for SC candidates. The UGC revised guidelines will come into effect from April 1, 2020, i.e. selection year 2020-21 onwards.

NEW DELHI: The University Grant Commission (UGC) has revised the selection process for the National Fellowship for SC candidates. The new UGC NFSC guidelines will come into effect from April 1, 2020 onwards i.e. for the selection year 2020-21 onwards.

As per the new UGC NFSC guidelines - “The selection for the award of fellowship to students will be made on the basis of merit of each UGC-NET-JRF or CSIR-NET-JRF examinations and the candidates, who have already secured admission and qualify NET examination will be given preference.”

According to the new UGC NFSC guidelines a total 407 candidates are eligible for the National Fellowship for SC on the basis of the joint CSIR UGC NET - June, 2020 Exam conducted in November 2020.

As per the revised selection process applicants and institutions where selected candidates are pursuing their research or where they seek admission will have to follow certain conditions set by the UGC.

  • Applicants, who want to avail the NFSC fellowship for pursuing research can download their Award Letter from - ugcnetonline.in.

  • The eligibility of the candidate for fellowship is required to be ensured by University/ Institution at the time of admission to M.Phil/Ph.D.

  • The NFSC award will be payable to selected candidates from the date of issue of result of Joint CSIR UGC NET - June, 2020 Exam i.e. February 2, 2021.

  • Admission/ registration is Candidates are advised to get admission and registration done regular full time M.Phil/ Ph.D in a UGC recognised University/ Institution as soon as possible but not later than three years from the date of issue of award letter.

  • To claim the fellowship candidates are required to fill the Verification Form cum Joining Report and submit the same to the officials concerned.

About UGC NFSC

Under the National Fellowship for SC candidates a total of 2000 scholarships are awarded every year. Out of which 1500 are for CSIR NET JRF qualified candidates and 500 for UGC NET JRF cleared candidates.
