NEW DELHI: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has started the registration for the Common University Entrance Test undergraduate (CUET UG) 2025. The testing agency will conduct CUET UG 2025 exam from May 8 to June 1 in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode. As per the CUET UG 2025 dates, NTA CUET UG application correction window will open on March 24, 2025 and applicants will be able to edit their details till March 26, 2025.
Students who are appearing for Class 12 board exam 2025 and those who have cleared the intermediate or equivalent examination will be eligible to appear for the exam. The CUET exam will be held in May and the results will be declared in June, as per earlier reports and previous years’ trends.
This year, the NTA will be conducting the UG entrance exam in online computer-based test (CBT) mode, the UGC chairman Jagadesh Kumar said. The exam underwent a major rejig after it faced several criticism for the lack of transparency and alleged malpractices in the exam.
In other major changes for CUET 2025, the number of subjects have been reduced from 63 to 37 and students will be given the flexibility to choose the papers appearing for even if they have not studied the subject in Class 12. Moreover, students will be allowed to select only five subjects to appear in the exam. Last year, the NTA allowed applicants to choose six subjects.
Additionally, the NTA will hold exams for all papers for a duration of 60 minutes or 1 hour, contrary to last year’s exam timings which varied for different subjects.

CUET UG 2025 will be conducted only in CBT mode, unlike last year when it was held in a hybrid format (pen-and-paper and CBT mode).
The number of subjects has been reduced from 61 to 37.
Candidates can select a maximum of five papers, regardless of their Class 12 subjects.
The question paper will consist of 50 compulsory questions, and candidates must attempt all.
Each test will have a duration of 60 minutes.

There is no age limit for the candidates to apply for CUET UG 2025. The candidates who have passed the Class 12, equivalent exam or are appearing in 2025 can appear in the CUET UG 2025 examination. Candidates applying for the three central universities of Sanskrit and studying any Shastric traditional subjects, such as Sahitya, Vyakarana, Phalitha Jyotisha, Siddhanta Jyotisha, Nyaya, Advaita Vedanta, Visistadvaita Vedanta, Dvaita Vedanta, Sankhya Yoga, Agama, Mimamsa, Puranetihasa, Dharanasastra, Rigvedabhashyam, Krishna Yajurveda Bhashyam, Shukla Yajurveda Bhashyam, Samaveda Bhashyam, Atharva Veda Bhashyam, or Vastu, may choose Sanskrit (325) in the CUET (UG) 2025 online application form.
NTA has removed the optional questions from the CUET 2025 exam. Candidates will no longer have the flexibility to choose questions and must attempt all 50 compulsory questions in the CUET 2025 paper.

The CUET 2025 exam date is awaited. NTA will soon declare the dates for CUET UG exams. Previous year, the CUET UG 2024 exam was held between May 15 and 18 in pen and paper mode and between May 21 and 24 in online mode. The CUET exam date 2025 will be announced on nta.ac.in. The registrations will commence tentatively in the last week of February 2025.
NTA has removed the optional questions in CUET 2025 exam. Candidates will not be able to select questions as per their convenience, they are required to answer a total of 50 compulsory questions in CUET 2025 paper.
The language-specific papers for 13 languages including English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, will continue as per CUET UG 2024 to assess proficiency. For all other languages, including 20 foreign languages as per CUET UG 2024, admissions will be based on performance in the general aptitude test.
The CUET 2025 exam duration has been changed to 60 minutes (1 hour) for all subjects. Previously, different subjects had a time limit depending on their paper difficulty and the number of questions. However, from this year, the CUET 2025 exam duration for every subject will have the same time limit.
This year NTA announced changes in number of subjects. The subjects have been reduced to 37 from 63 and students will be given the flexibility to choose the papers even if they have not studied the subject in Class 12. Additionally, students are allowed to select only 5 subjects to appear in the exam. Last year, the candidates were allowed to choose six subjects.
