Normalisation may result in two students with the same raw score receiving different final scores depending on their exam shift. This can impact ranks and admissions. Universities will consider percentile scores, not raw scores, to prepare merit lists and cut-offs.
The CUET UG exam was held in multiple sessions, making it necessary to normalise scores. NTA uses the equi-percentile method, which converts raw marks into percentile scores and then scales them across shifts to ensure fairness. This method helps offset differences in difficulty levels across sessions.
