NEW DELHI: The Common University Entrance Test (CUET) UG 2022, the new entrance exam for admission into central universities, kicked off yesterday, July 15, amid complaints by students about last-minute change of CUET exam centres. The University Grants Commission (UGC) chairman M Jagadesh Kumar clarified that there will be no retest for candidates who missed the CUET 2022 phase 1 exam.

The clarification came after some of the media agencies claimed that the National Testing Agency (NTA) officials had confirmed to conduct retest for candidates who missed the exam.
“Candidates reaching at an exam centre not allotted to them will also be allowed to appear provided they reach the exam centre 30 minutes before the commencement of the exam. If a few students have missed the CUET 2022 exam or if they turned up late to the exam centre then there is no way we can conduct a retest for them,” UGC chairman in a video message, as per the NDTV report.
However, students on social media claimed that they weren’t allowed to appear at an exam centre and due to last minute change in exam centres many ended up missing the test.

"Over 190 candidates who were to appear at the two centres will now be allowed to appear in the second phase in August. At other centres, the candidates who could not appear due to changes in exam centres will also get another chance," a senior official of the National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducts the examination, said, as per the PTI report.
The exam at two centres in West Bengal's New Jalpaiguri and Punjab's Pathankot was cancelled due to technical issues, it added.
Of the 14.9 lakh registrations, nearly 8,10,000 students participated in the CUET 2022 phase 1 exam in more than 500 cities across the country. CUET UG 2022 is now the second biggest entrance exam in the country, surpassing JEE Main 2022.
