NEW DELHI: Common University Entrance Test - Undergraduate (CUET UG 2024) will be held in hybrid mode. The decision to hold third-edition in hybrid mode was taken to allow aspirants, especially in rural areas, to take the exam near their home town, the Indian Express reported.

The CUET UG registration 2024 is expected to begin from February 19. The National Testing Agency (NTA) will soon launch the information brochure on the new portal for CUET UG 2024 exam for admission to UG courses in central universities, and other participating universities.

As per the NTA exam calendar, the CUET 2024 exam is scheduled to be organised between May 15 to May 31. A total of 249 universities grant admission to UG courses. The number of participating universities are expected to increase this year.

The CUET UG OMR-based test will be held for subjects with a higher number of applications. “We will be able to conduct the exam for those specific subjects on one day and in one shift for all candidates in the country. We will be able to use several schools, colleges and educational institutes as exam halls, just like we do for other exams such as NEET,” the Indian Express quoted UGC chairman M Jagadesh Kumar.

Around 28 lakh candidates appeared in the second edition of CUET UG exam last year. The number of subjects choices has been reduced from 10 to 6, as last year’s data showed that the maximum number of candidates opted for only 5 papers.

A total of 87,309 candidates from Jammu and Kashmir registered for the CUET UG last year, of which 24,872 candidates have been assigned centres in other states. The NTA later established temporary exam centres in Srinagar. The situation was similar in Jharkhand, however, the NTA asked the students to make appropriate travel arrangements.
