Wrong CUET UG 2024 question paper distributed in Kanpur; re-exam on May 29: UGC chairman

NEW DELHI: CUET UG 2024 chaos continues as a series of irregularities is being reported at various exam centres in the country. In the latest, students started pelting stones and creating ruckus after the CUET question paper was wrongly distributed in Maharana Pratap Group of Colleges in Kanpur. In this regard, the UGC chairman Jagadesh Kumar told Careers360 that the re-exam for affected students will be held on May 29. CUET 2024 May 17 Live

The UGC chairman told Careers360: “It was a case of distribution of a question paper with a wrong language. There was no paper leak. NTA will conduct the test in this subject for affected students in their cities on 29th May along with Delhi centers.”

On Wednesday, the National Testing Agency (NTA) conducted the CUET UG exam in pen and paper mode. The ruckus erupted after the English medium students were given the Hindi medium question papers and vice versa. Some students reportedly pelted stones at the centre for poor management. As the situation worsened, the police force arrived at the spot to control the crowd.

A Kanpur police official said that the English medium students received Hindi question papers in the second shift. The exam centre officials have informed the same to the NTA.

Students have been facing several challenges this year in addition to the exam undergoing a major rejig. A large number of students were unable to download the CUET admit card. Later, the NTA issued a new CUET UG admit card a few hours before the exam. Some students also said that they did not get enough time to attempt questions.

The exam was held in computer-based test (CBT) mode until last year. In an effort to increase the participation of students and reduce the number of drop years, the UGC decided to hold the exam in hybrid format.
