Delhi government revises school timings as weather improves

Delhi government has ordered all government, aided and private schools to start operation on normal timings from tomorrow.

NEW DELHI: The Delhi government has schools to resume the normal timings from tomorrow i.e. February 6. The Delhi government notification said, “In view of the improved weather conditions in Delhi, all government, aided and recognised private schools of Delhi shall resume their full normal timings with effect from February 6.”

The notification added that the head of schools should inform all students, parents and staff well in time through mass SMS facility, phone calls, SMC and other suitable means of communication. The weather condition in the northern plains has improved following a rainy spell. The minimum temperature in Delhi was recorded at 12.4 degree celsius and the maximum was 20.3 degree celsius in the last 24 hours.

The Delhi directorate of education had reopened the school on January 15. However, the Delhi government had revised the school timings due to the cold weather conditions.

The school, including those with double-shift, were ordered to start at 9 am. It also added that the schools shouldn’t function beyond 5 pm. The order was taken in view of the prevailing fog.

On January 7, the Delhi education minister Atishi had announced that schools in the city will remain closed for students of nursery to Class 5 till January 12 due to the cold wave. It was then extended till January 15.
