NEW DELHI: The Delhi Government on Wednesday announced that summer vacations in government and aided schools will start from May 11 to June 30 as per schedule.

The government had suspended all teaching and learning activity from March 23 due to the rising coronavirus infections across the country. All government schools were also instructed to commence online classes for Classes 10 and 12 from early April.

The Directorate of Education (DoE), in a circular released on late Wednesday evening, said: “This year also, the summer vacation in government and government aided schools shall be observed, as usual, from May 11 to June 30 for students.”

The directorate also said that schools should refrain from calling students to school for academic related activity.

The DoE said: “Keeping in view of the COVID-19 pandemic, students shall not be called to schools for any teaching-learning activity during the summer vacations”.

It has instructed schools to convey this information to all students over telephone,SMS or Whatsapp.

Many states, including Maharashtra, had called for early summer vacations to adjust the time lost during the nationwide lockdown which has now been extended till May 17.
