NEW DELHI: The Delhi government disbursed only Rs 56.14 crore to schools for giving seed grant of Rs 2,000 per student under the Entrepreneurial Mindset Curriculum, according to a Delhi government source.
As per the internal report of the Arvind Kejriwal-led government on Entrepreneurial Mindset Curriculum which was rolled out for Classes 9 to 12 aiming to promote entrepreneurship among students. The Delhi entrepreneurial mindset project was allocated Rs 60 crore for the academic year 2021-2022, the ANI reported.
Of the total funds allocated, “only Rs 56.14 crore was disbursed to schools for giving seed grant of Rs 2,000 per student for rolling out any business idea. Many schools returned Rs 26 crore out of the total Rs 56 crore,” the ANI reported. This means, only half the fund (Rs 30 crore) allocated for the entrepreneurial mindset curriculum project was spent.
The report also revealed that the Delhi government spent Rs 52.52 crore on ads for this scheme, it added.
The Business Blasters programme which was launched in September 2021 by the Delhi government is an extended practical component of the Entrepreneurship Mindset Curriculum that provides Class 11 and Class 12 students with Rs 2,000 each in seed money for developing business ideas.
In April, Delhi education minister Manish Sisodia said that the national capital will collaborate with Bhutan to inculcate an entrepreneurship mindset among Bhutanese students and prepare them for future challenges.
