Delhi medical colleges implement 1-year mandatory service bond for MBBS, PG students
Delhi medical college students pursuing MBBS, PG courses will have to serve in the institutions under GNCT for one year or forfeit the Rs 15 lakh or Rs 20 lakh bond.

NEW DELHI: Delhi medical colleges have implemented the one-year mandatory bond service for MBBS, PG students from the academic year 2025-26. Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University admission brochure 2025 mandates MBBS, PG students to undergo 1-year bond service after completion of their course, including their internship period.

Delhi 1-year service bond has been implemented for All India and state quota undergraduate and postgraduate medical students. It requires students to serve in the medical colleges under GNCT of Delhi for a period of one year. The bond policy was introduced by the Delhi government on September 19 last year.
As per the new policy, the MBBS and PG students, including super-specialty, will have to pay Rs 15 lakh and Rs 20 lakh respectively at the time of admission. The amount will be forfeited in case the student decides to opt out of the mandatory service period. This, however, was not received well by aspirants and doctors’ associations.

Delhi medical colleges
Delhi is home to 8 government-run medical colleges. These include
- AIIMS New Delhi,
- Maulana Azad Medical College,
- Lady Hardinge Medical College,
- University College of Medical Sciences,
- Vardhman Mahavir Medical College & Safdarjung Hospital,
- Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Medical College,
- ESI Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences and Research,
- Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Medical Sciences.
There are three types of NEET PG bond policies - service bond, seat leaving bond, and bank guarantee. Delhi was one among the few states that did not have a service bond. However, the Delhi health department last year announced to implement the compulsory service bond for the medical college students in Delhi from the academic year 2025-26.
For GGSIPU admission 2025, the application form will be made available till April 30 on the official website, ipu.ac.in.
