NEW DELHI: Schools in the national capital reopened today, July 1, following summer vacations. Although the rise in Covid-19 cases in the country had sparked concerns among parents and schools principals, the Delhi government had asserted that all safety measures have been implemented for the Delhi school reopening.
This year, several states had announced short summer vacation to compensate for the learning loss caused during the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to school principals, while coronavirus is posing new threats, there is a need for parents to understand that the pandemic is nearing the endemic phase and one should get accustomed to living with it, PTI reported.
Experts had also raised concerns about learning losses due to disconnect from physical classrooms and have been warning against any further disruptions in offline classes.
Schools reopened for completely offline classes from April 1 after prolonged closure in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Delhi recorded 865 COVID-19 cases with a positivity rate of 4.45 per cent and zero fatality, according to data shared by the health department here on Thursday. With the fresh infections, Delhi's case tally climbed to 19,34,874.
In other news, Delhi education minister Manish Sisodia said that the Delhi government will work on class-wise reduction of the syllabus to create more time and opportunities for strengthening foundational skills under the "Mission Buniyad".
