Delhi Teachers University will offer a new age BEd, MEd, PhD and certificate programmes and an integrated teacher education programme after Class 12.

NEW DELHI: Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia today inaugurated the Delhi Teachers University. The new Delhi Teachers University will be set up on 12 acres of land at Bakkarwala village in west Delhi. The cabinet on December 20 last year approved to establish new Delhi Teachers University in the national capital to train ‘new generation teachers’.
Inaugurating the university, Manish Sisodia said, “It gives me great pleasure to inaugurate the 'Delhi Teachers University.' This is Delhi's first of its kind university that aims to prepare well-trained and highly qualified teachers. Arvind Kejriwal-led Govt aims to inspire today's students to become tomorrow's teachers.”
“The University will offer a new age integrated teacher education programme after Class 12. It will also emphasize on fundamental and applied research in education by collaborating with national and international organizations,” he added.

The Delhi government has also announced the key features of the Delhi Teachers University.

After the Cabinet approved to set up the university, the chief minister Arvind Kejriwal said, “Delhi Teachers University will also collaborate with the best national and international institutes and it will also research on the best teaching techniques.”
The university will have state-of-art classes, a library, hall, computer labs, and conference room, said the statement and at full strength, the campus will be able to accommodate 5,000 students. The main university block will be a four-storeyed building that comprises the administrative floor and education floor, as per the official statement released earlier.
