DU UG Admissions 2026: BCom (Hons), BA remain top choices; first CSAS allotment on July 16

More than 2.08 lakh aspirants have finalised their programme and college preferences for undergraduate admissions at Delhi University (DU) after the university closed the preference-editing window on July 13. DU is now set to announce the first Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) seat allotment result on July 16.

PTI reports that 2,08,043 candidates submitted their programme and college preferences, up from 2,06,835 before the simulated ranks were announced on July 12. DU Dean of Admissions Haneet Gandhi said the increase was expected as some registered candidates who had not filled in their preferences completed the process after viewing their simulated ranks.

"Following the release of the simulated ranks, some students who had already registered but had not filled preferences have filled them now, as a result of which we have the revised data," Gandhi told PTI.

Registrations cross 2.18 lakh

Delhi University recorded strong participation in this year's undergraduate admission process through the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS).

• Total candidates registered on the CSAS portal: 2,73,751
• Candidates who completed registration: 2,18,284
• Candidates who submitted programme and college preferences: 2,08,043
• Female candidates: 1,20,509
• *Male candidates: 97,775

The second phase of the admission process began on July 3 and concluded on July 11. During this period, candidates mapped their CUET UG 2026 subjects with their Class 12 subjects and submitted their preferred programme-college combinations.

Simulated ranks

The University released simulated ranks to help candidates assess their position before seat allocation. Based on these ranks, applicants were allowed to reorder or modify their programme and college preferences through a correction window.

The first CSAS allocation list will be prepared based on candidates' CUET UG 2026 scores, programme-specific eligibility criteria and the final preferences submitted by applicants.

BCom (Hons) remains the top choice

Commerce programmes continue to dominate student preferences this year. The 10 most preferred undergraduate programmes are:

• BA (Hons) Political Science
• BA Programme (History and Political Science)
• BA (Hons) History
• BSc (Hons) Zoology
• BSc (Hons) Mathematics
• BSc Programme (Life Science)
• BA (Hons) Economics

DU is conducting admissions for 73 undergraduate programmes and more than 100 BA Programme combinations offered across 67 colleges on the basis of CUET UG 2026 scores. The new academic session is scheduled to begin on July 28 . For more details, one can go to the official website.
