The National Medical Commission said students whose names are included in the list will be eligible to practice modern medicine, allopath in India.

NEW DELHI: Details of only 1,04,891 students admitted in the MBBS programme in medical colleges for the academic session 2023-24 have been uploaded on the portal, the National Medical Commission said. The commission informed that these students will be eligible to practice modern medicine or allopathy and asked students to check the list of names and contact the authority in case their name is not reflected in the list.
The commission reminded that as per the Graduate Medical Education Regulations (GMER) 2023, the medical admissions are conducted through common counselling. After this, medical colleges were asked to submit the details of admitted students by October 20 which was further extended to November 21 as the last date of counselling was revised.

“GMER, 2023 prescribes conditions and modalities for admission at graduate level medical education through common counseling. Accordingly, after completion of the counseling period, UGMEB through circular dated 9th October, 2023 requested all the Medical Colleges to upload the details of students admitted for graduate level medical education for the Academic Year 2023-24 latest by 20.10.2023,” said NMC in an official notice.
“Further, after extension of the last date of counseling by Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, another Public Notice was also issued to upload the details of admitted students for the Academic Year 2023-24 latest by 21.11.2023,” it added.
The commission said that some of the medical colleges did not upload the data of students while others submitted incomplete details. “Despite issuance of circular and public notice, it has been found that details of only 1,04,891 students admitted for the Academic Year 2023-24 have been uploaded on the portal,” it stated.
NMC informed that students whose details have been uploaded on the portal will be eligible for registration to practice modern medicine or allopathy in India provided they fulfill all other criteria as per rules and regulations.

Asking students to go through the list available on the website, NMC further said, “Student who got admission in graduate level medical education (MBBS) for the Academic Year 2023-24 and their names are not reflected in the list may consult the concerned Directorate of Medical Education /Counselling Authority urgently.”
