Dharmendra Pradhan, Yogi Adityanath launch 928 PM Shri schools in Lucknow

The first phase of the PM SHRI initiative will cover 81 Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) in the state.

NEW DELHI: Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath launched 928 PM SHRI schools during an event in Lucknow. Pradhan expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for enhancing the school infrastructure to provide world-class education.

Under the PM-SHRI scheme, the upgradation and renovation of more than 1000 schools has been completed, the education minister said.

Pradhan also praised the efforts of CM Yogi Adityanath in implementing the National Education Policy (NEP 2020) in the state during the last three years. The first phase of the PM SHRI initiative covers 928 government schools in Uttar Pradesh, including 81 Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs).

Talking about Viksit Bharat 2047, Pradhan said: “Out of 26 crore students of the country, nearly 20% come from the state, and therefore they will be important for the realisation of the goal of Viksit Bharat by 2047.”

He also highlighted how students from the UP’s Navodaya Vidyalaya have succeeded in competitive entrance exams such as Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) and National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) for admission into Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), government medical colleges, National Institutes of Technology (NITs), without any coaching.

The education minister praised the state for taking assistance from the Centre for Creative Learning at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Gandhinagar) in teaching science to students at Kasturba Gandhi Valika Vidyalayas in Uttar Pradesh.

Yogi Adityanath informed that 1,753 schools across the state have been selected to be upgraded under the PM SHRI scheme. Infrastructure upgrades such as Baalvatika, smart classrooms, science laboratories, digital libraries, and sports facilities will be implemented in schools, leading to the construction of integrated campuses to provide holistic school education.
