DU forms committee to check teachers’ attendance in affiliated colleges

The five-member committee of Delhi University will have to submit its report within 30 days.

NEW DELHI: The University of Delhi has constituted a committee to develop a mechanism to address the concern that the classes are being not taken by the teachers. The committee will consist of five members from various constituent colleges of the Delhi University (DU).

The DU committee will consist of Savita Roy, principal, Daulat Ram College; Rabi Narayan Kar, principal, Shyam Lal College; Poonam Verma, principal, Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies; Rajiv Chopra, principal, Delhi College of Arts and Commerce; and Arun Kumar Attree, principal, Shaheed Bhagat Singh College (Evening).

The DU has directed the committee to submit its report within 30 days. This is issued with the approval of the competent authority, the university said.

SOL online classes

Recently, the Delhi University’s School of Open Learning (SOL) has signed an agreement with around 40 to 50 DU-affiliated colleges to conduct offline classes for its students starting January 28, an official release said on Thursday. As per the DUSOL notification, an MOU has been signed between the SOL and Delhi University colleges for holding these classes.

The Department of Distance and Continuing Education, University of Delhi will organise the Personal Contact Program (PCP) classes for distance learning students in accordance with the University Grants Commission (UGC) guidelines. As many as 4 lakh students are taking online classes with the SOL.
