DU releases sports quota seat matrix with 2,153 seats for UG admissions

Delhi University has announced 2,153 seats under the sports supernumerary quota across 28 disciplines for UG admissions 2026-27.

Download NowNew Delhi: With the second phase of the University of Delhi's undergraduate admission process underway, the educational institution on Monday released the discipline-wise matrix for admissions under the Sports Supernumerary Quota for the 2026-27 academic session, offering 2,153 seats across 28 disciplines.

According to the seat matrix, 1,119 seats have been earmarked for men and 1,034 for women across Delhi University's colleges. Admissions under the quota will be offered in 28 sports, including athletics, badminton, basketball, cricket, football, hockey, shooting, swimming, table tennis, volleyball and wrestling.
Among the sports which have secured the highest number of seats are cricket with 192 seats (157 for men and 35 for women), followed by volleyball with 222 seats (117 men and 105 women), basketball with 206 seats (103 each for men and women), athletics with 151 seats (59 men and 92 women), and football with 195 seats (140 men and 55 women).
The breakdown also provides college-wise distribution of seats for each sport. Colleges such as Hansraj College, Hindu College, Ramjas College, Miranda House, Shri Ram College of Commerce, Lady Shri Ram College for Women, Sri Venkateswara College and several others have seats across multiple disciplines.
The release of the sports seat matrix comes as candidates participating in Phase II of the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS-UG) are filling their programme and college preferences before the commencement of seat allocation. "Candidates desirous of taking admission to Undergraduate Programme under the sports quota must appear in CUET (UG) - 2026.

For admissions to ECA and Sports supernumerary seats, a weightage of 25% will be given to CUET(UG)-2026 score and 75% to certificates/trials/performances," according to the DU bulletin of information. Admissions under the quota are conducted separately from the regular merit-based process and are based on a combination of sports achievements and performance in sports trials, along with eligibility requirements prescribed by the university.
