DU 3rd Cut-Off 2021 : These colleges have set cut-offs below 90% in BA Honours

NEW DELHI: As Delhi University released the DU third cut-off 2021 for their undergraduate merit-based courses at du.ac.in on October 16, the cut- off for many top colleges was set on a higher side . While colleges like LSR and SRCC set the cut off for their BA programme (Political Science+Psychology) at 99.5 and BA (Honours) Economics and BCom (Honours) at 99.5%and 99% rescpectively, few colleges of the university set the cut off marks below 90% mark.

The third cut off for admission into various UG courses was released on Saturday, although it saw a decline of 0.25 to 1.5%, however, marks required for admission under the third list were still on the higher side. Handful of Colleges under DU set the cut off under the third list at 90% and below, for BA (Honours) programme, general category in subjects like history, political science, philosophy.

The cut off for BA (Honours) Hindi in many colleges ranged between 64% to 89.25%. Jesus and Mary College which closed admission to many of its top courses set the cut-off for Hindi at 64%, while in Ramjas College, a candidate requires a minimum 89.25% to get admission into BA (Honours)Hindi. In JMC colleges, besides Hindi, two other subjects were set at below 90% mark, BVoc Retail Management and IT was set at 76.25% and BVoc Healthcare Management at 72 %.

Only one college under DU has a cut off below 90% for BA (Honours) Political Science for candidates belonging to general category. Sri Guru Nanak Dev Khalsa College set the third cut off for its BA (Honours) Political science at 89% under the third cut- off list.

Shyama Prasad Mukherji College for Women and Lakshmibai College set the cut off for their B.A. (Hons.) Philosophy at 86.75 % and 85.75% respectively. While other colleges where seats are still left in the subject, the cut off crossed the 90% mark. In Bhagini Nivedita College, BA (Honours) History was set at 79%, the only college where the marks required is below 90% for general category students. B.A.(Vocational Studies) Tourism Management was pegged at 88.25% in College of Vocational Studies.

As DU released the third cut off on October 16, many top colleges like Miranda House, Hindu College, JMC, Hansraj College closed admission to top courses. The admissions against the 3rd cut-off list of DU 2021 will begin from October 18 (10 am) and will be over by October 21 (11:59 pm). Delhi University colleges’ principals will approve the admissions through the DU third cut-off list 2021 by October 22 (5 pm). Candidates who qualify for the admission can pay the fee against the DU third cut off list 2021 till October 23 (5 pm).

Delhi university prepares the cut-off for admission to their UG merit-based courses using the best of four calculations which considers three academic and one elective subject. Delhi University has nearly 70,000 seats in 64 colleges for various undergraduate courses for which admission began on October 4 under the first cut off list. The first cut off was released on October 1. The university will release 4th and 5th cut-off on October 30 and November 8, respectively depending on the availability of seats in DU colleges.
