EdCIL Vidyanjali Scholarship Programme launched today; scholarship letters provided to NVS students

EdCIL Vidyanjali Scholarship Programme: Around 70 students will receive scholarships worth Rs 5 crore.

NEW DELHI: Union minister of education and skill development and entrepreneurship, Dharmendra Pradhan, launched the EdCIL Vidyanjali Scholarship Programme today, on February 6, 2024. According to the official press release, EdCIL Vidyanjali scholarship programme is aligned with the National Education Policy 2020.

Secretary, higher education, ministry of education, K Sanjay Murthy; secretary, department of school education and literacy, Sanjay Kumar; executive director, EdCIL, Chandrashekhar; and other dignitaries also attended the ceremony.

While speaking at the ceremony, Pradhan stated that, as envisioned in the NEP 2020, the Vidyanjali Scholarship Programme represents a whole-of-society approach to empowerment via educational access and opportunity, particularly for children from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. He praised the efforts of NVS students and stated that approximately 14,000 students were able to gain admission to universities such as IITs and NITs without the need of coaching centres. He added that 70 students will receive scholarships worth Rs 5 crore.

Pradhan stated that nation-building is a collaborative effort of all people, and it was heartwarming to see corporations eagerly stepping up to help and finance academically brilliant and outstanding children who lack the financial means to pursue an education. According to him, humanitarian gesture of the donor organisations will motivate many more of our corporates to empower children in need and rekindle the flame of education.

Scholarship letter provided to students

The Minister met with six JNV students and five business CSR sponsors. A short film on the Vidyanjali scholarship programme was screened at the event. Five significant MoUs were exchanged between CSR sponsors or impact founders, including Fiat India, HDFC Bank Limited, ClearMedi Healthcare, Bharat Forge, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, demonstrating the government and private sector joining forces to achieve a shared vision of nation-building and empowering the country's future workforce. The occasion also marked the debut of the revolutionary Vidyanjali Fintech Platform/portal. The Minister also awarded scholarship letters to six meritorious NVS students.
