NEW DELHI: The Association of Indian Universities, or AIU, will host an interactive session with the minister for human resource development, Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, on May 11 at 4 PM.

The session, which will discuss “higher education in the post-COVID-19 era”, will be attended by the Vice-Chancellors of various universities.

AIU has 799 member universities including 16 overseas universities. The association is an apex advisory body on higher education mandated by the MHRD to determine equivalence of degrees.

The interaction between the minister and the VCs is likely to address the measures to salvage the academic calendar and other steps to bring back the education system on track.

University schedules and exams

In order to curb the spread of coronavirus, all educational institutions have been shut down leading to a halt in all academic activities.

Considering the circumstances, several universities are now deliberating over conducting the semester examinations online as per the guidelines issued by the University Grants Commission.

During the lockdown period, the education minister has conducted two webinars to address the issues of students and parents. An exclusive webinar will also be conducted on May 14.
