NEW DELHI: Aligarh Muslim University has constituted a committee to inquire into the incident of student injury during a cricket match.
The University has made a three-member committee comprising on Hashmat Ali Khan as convener, Arshad Hussain and Ajay Bisaria. The incident left the student, Sajid Husain with serious head injuries and was rushed to Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College in an unconscious state. The committee has been asked to submit a report on the incident within five days.
“The committee members inquiring into the matter will submit the report within five days”, said AMU proctor, Mohd Wasim Ali.

Shobhit Singh, who had allegedly hit him with a cricket bat was suspended with immediate effect and the university campus has been declared out of bounds for him, pending further inquiry. According to officials, a case was registered under sections 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) and 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at civil lines police station.
A counter case has been registered against the attacker. Pushpendra Pachuri, regional joint convenor of the BJP's teachers' cell, demanded that both sides should be held accountable. The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association expressed their concerns about Sajid Husain, a native of Jammu and Kashmir in a letter to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and to ensure the safety of all students of Jammu and Kashmir studying in different colleges in the state.
Both the alleged attacker and the injured student are in their second year at the Zakir Husain College of Engineering and Technology (ZHCET), AMU.
