FMGE June 2026: AFA seeks J P Nadda’s intervention over exam concerns

The All FMGs Association (AFA) has urged Union Health Minister J P Nadda to intervene in the concerns raised by foreign medical graduates (FMGs) over the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) June 2026 session conducted by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS).

In a post on X, the association said that thousands of FMG candidates have raised concerns over the examination and sought an independent inquiry, greater transparency and appropriate relief for candidates who appeared for the FMGE June 2026 session.

The AFA alleged that video-based questions were introduced in the FMGE examination without prior notice or additional time. It also claimed that candidates at some exam centres faced inadequate cooling, ventilation and drinking water facilities.

The association said in its post addressed to J P Nadda, "Thousands of FMGs seek your urgent intervention regarding serious concerns in the FMGE June 2026 examination conducted by NBEMS."

The association further claimed that candidates experienced an unexpected increase in the difficulty level and time pressure during the examination. It also highlighted the FMGE examination fee of Rs 6,195 as a concern.

FMGE June 2026 transparency concerns

The AFA has also raised concerns over the absence of an official answer key and response sheet for the FMGE June 2026 examination. According to the association, this has created concerns among candidates about transparency and their ability to verify their performance.

The association also claimed that some candidates had reported receiving "identical/similar scores across attempts". However, the claim has been made by the AFA and has not been independently verified.

The association said FMG candidates have also faced "severe physical and mental stress" during the examination process.

AFA seeks answer key, response sheet

The AFA has requested the government to take several measures in response to the concerns raised by candidates. Its demands include an independent inquiry into the examination-related issues and the release of official answer keys and response sheets.

The association has also sought a review of the FMGE examination fee and appropriate relief for June 2026 candidates. It has specifically requested consideration of a reduction in the qualifying cutoff for candidates who appeared in the examination.

"We seek only fairness, transparency and justice," the association said.

The concerns raised by the AFA come as candidates await clarity from the authorities on the issues highlighted by the association. Any decision on the examination process, answer keys, fee or qualifying criteria will rest with the competent authorities.
